Adult Volunteer Program

Our Adult volunteer program is for those interested in donating their time to the Science Center and are 18 years of age or older.

There are 3 adult volunteer positions: Greeter, Safety Observer, and Educator volunteer.

The descriptions for each are below. 

To be a volunteer for the Science Center, you will need to complete the application, consent to a background check, and drug test. 

Position Title: Greeter Volunteer (2 open positions)
Volunteer Description: Greeters help provide a warm and welcoming presence to visitors. Greeters will be stationed at the center entrance to welcome, direct, and engage visitors. The greeter will distribute general information and assist the welcome desk and other customer service staff.

Position Title: Safety Observer Volunteer (2 open positions )
Volunteer Description: The safety observer volunteer is responsible for observing children and adults at the exhibits. In addition to assisting visitors who have questions, the safety observer also ensures that visitors operate exhibits safely and appropriately. The volunteer will enforce regulations put forth by the science center. These may include no running, no eating or drinking inside, and making sure caregivers/chaperones are staying with their child.

Position Title: Education Volunteer (There are currently no open positions)
Volunteer Description: You will engage with visitors and lead demonstrations as an education volunteer. You should be able to explain the scientific foundations of those demonstrations after instruction. When we begin programming, you will assist in setting up activities and cleaning after the program. The education volunteer will help with birthday parties, Field Trips, and Group Visits.
